Year 11 Service

This session I visited on Thursday. I encoded surveys into the large database. Although this was relatively "menial" work, we had to be meticulous and concentrate on our work, to decipher their handwriting and complete all the case files. Moreover, it made me feel thankful for the life that I have when recording their wages and their living accommodations and working hours. I hope that through our work, we can improve not only our own work ethic but their lives as well.

This session we visited on Thursday. We were tasked with administrative tasks: encoding case files into the large database. Although this was relative "menial" work, we had to be meticulous and concentrate on our work, to decipher their handwriting and complete all the case files. This session Charlotte and I visited on Thursday, as we were both busy on Friday (the day we usually go). We joined the regulars for Thursday, Svasti and Sherson. Svasti and I were tasked with administrative tasks: sorting a large pile of random files into chronological and alphabetical order, then organising them and hole-punching them and putting them into the according large binders on a high shelf. We conversed and had to learn how to manoeuvre ourselves in the narrow space, as well as stay positive and constantly lend each other a hand in taking down high and heavy binders, and putting it back. Although this was relative "menial" work, I really appreciated the patience and spacial skills, and physical strength in order to sort through the mountain of files and organise them accordingly.
